Pastor Dell De'Voy Gibbs, 69, of 811 E. 8th St. Washington, NC departed this life on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in the comfort of his home.
Dell De’Voy Gibbs was born January 28, 1955 to the late Harley, and Ruby Dell Gibbs. He was born the third child of five children from this union.
Dell began his education in the Hyde County Public School System, from 1st to 4th grade. After moving from Swan Quarter, North Carolina to Baltimore, Maryland Dell continued his education at Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys.
He was baptized at age 15. Dell accepted the call by God to ministry at the age of 18. He was ordained, and licensed by Bishop Showell in April 1973. Dell was affectionately known as the preacher on wheels. There was absolutely nothing Pastor Dell would not do for anyone in his power. If he was unable to assist you he always was able to find you the perfecthelp.
Dell met and married Edna Bernadette Marshall in 1973. Their union was blessed with two children Danita, and Duane. In 2019 Dell met and married Regina Doris Kinning.
He was employed by Montgomery Wards, Systems Connection, and he did security at Legg Mason.
Dell leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife Regina Gibbs; one daughter Danita Gibbs; one son Duane Gibbs (Tyra); three step children Tanesha Blake (Jaheem), Andre Kinning (Shatisha), and Suante Kinning; one brother Curtis Gibbs (Sandra); one sister Clementine Davis (Andres); one sister- in-law Tanya Kinning; one uncle Johnathan Harris (Jackie); three aunts Rachel Bucknight, Debra Rickard, Melissa Silverthorn; 16 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; three Godchildren Darren Patterson, Trevon Patterson, and Meua Patterson; a loyal friend Edna B. Gibbs; and a host of other family members, and friends.
His life's devotion, service to God and mankind will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Unity of Faith Covenant Ministries International.
Burial will follow in the Ada Brown Cemetery, Engelhard, NC.
Viewing will be held Friday, May 10, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the People's Memorial Chapel.
