Shamyra Monique Howard-Brooks was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 13, 1982, to Mr. David Glover and Mrs. Sybil Howard-Johnson. Shamyra peacefully entered eternal rest on December 27, 2025.
Shamyra graduated from Mattamuskeet High School. After graduating, she attended Beaufort Community College, where she studied cosmetology. She later worked as a beautician at Platinum Styles. Styling hair was her passion. She never complained, as she would always say, “Pray about it; it’s all in God’s hands.” At a young age, she became a member of Mt. Pilgrim Disciples of Christ of Seawell, NC.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dallas Brooks Jr.; her daughters, Shaniya Hopkins, Miya Smith, and Saniya Brooks; and her son, Dallas Brooks III. She also leaves her father, David Glover; her mother, Sybil Howard-Johnson; her stepfather, Roy Johnson; three brothers, Roy Johnson, Shelvin Johnson, and Rickey Glover; and four sisters, Katrina Glover, Rositia Crummell, Christiane Higgen, and Tonya Glover, who preceded her in death. She leaves one godchild, Kameron Somerville; her mother-in-love, Gloria Benson; eight aunts; four uncles; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends who will forever hold her memory close in their hearts.
Viewing will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at People's Memorial Chapel. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Ponzer Community Building, 3911 US Hwy 264 Belhaven, NC 27810.
