Psalm 121:1-2
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth…
Mrs. Katreah ReCole Moore Gillispie, daughter of Robert and Brenda Moore, was born March 10, 1984 at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern, NC. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, March 8,2025.
Katreah attended and graduated from West Craven High School in 2002. She was part of the Marching Band from 6th grade until graduation. She loved playing the saxophone. Katreah became a member of St. Anna Missionary Baptist Church along with her parents in 2003. She was a faithful member of the choir.
On June 2, 2016, Katreah was united in Holy Matrimony to Aaron Donnell Gillispie, Jr. From this union, a son, Miles Zaron Gillispie was born. He was truly the apple of her eye! Katreah attended Craven Community College and worked at Pamlico Correction Prison as long as her health permitted.
Katreah had a big heart! She was always reaching out to help others. She loved giving advice – whether you liked it or not. She was a great encourager to other patients when she went for treatments at the Sickle Cell Clinic. The patients were called “Sickle Cell Warriors” because of the fight they had in overcoming their obstacles.
To cherish her memories, Katreah is survived by: her husband, son and parents; her brother, DeMario Scott, Greenville, NC; her stepdaughters, Grace and Drea Gillispie, Kinston, NC; her father in law, Aaron D. Gillispie, Sr., Grifton, NC; brother-in-law, Tharon Gillispie (Cynethia), Kinston, NC; Aunts: Marsha, Vernell (Leon), Jackie, Willie Mae (Archie, Sr.), Deneice, Symantha (Ralph), Jacqueline and Barbara; Uncles: Errol, Wayne (Yolanda), and Calvin (Sholanda), Melvin, Sr., Rodney, and Jeffery (Thelma); Nieces: Harleigh, Karlen “KK”, Ziya and Emaya; Nephews: Dallas, Jordan and Ezekiel; and a special friend, Kayla Fowler.
