Mr. James Moore Obituary

James Nelson Moore peacefully transitioned into eternal rest surrounded by his family.

James was born on July 3, 1937, in Blounts Creek, NC to the late Fred Alfred Moore, Sr. and Blanch Moore. He attended S.W. Snowden School and at the age of 17 he decided to move to Washington DC to pursue better work opportunities. While there, James learned all about the concrete construction trade and eventually become a skilled Concrete Finisher. He was afforded the opportunity to help build major infrastructure while in the DC area, such as the United States Capital and the Delaware Memorial Bridge.

On March 7, 1961, James married Irma Lee Moore. Their union was blessed with 7 children. James would eventually move back to Blounts Creek, NC and purchase a home for his family. Throughout his career, James held the positions of Foreman and Supervisor for several construction companies to include Roberts Construction and Brown & amp: Root. Over the years. James had perfected his craft as a Cement Finisher, and it did not take long for the word to spread about his quality of work. He began to receive request from all over for his service, so in his spare time in the evenings, weekends and during “shutdowns” he would acquire an abundance of work to be self-employed and hire his own team of guys. James prided himself on being able to teach his team of guys the skills of the construction trade and it was important to him that he made sure to compensate them well for their labor. James was a great provider for his wife and children, and his heart of generosity impacted many households. He always kept a nice ride and was known as the “Cadillac Man.”

In 2021, James made the decision to give his life to Christ, and he also became a member of Ware Creek Missionary Baptist Church. On August 29, 2021, he was baptized and received the Holy Spirit. James was a faithful member of Ware Creek and would join online service every Sunday by prompting Google on his smart phone to call “The Church.” He was excited about his relationship with the Lord and was not shy about sharing his salvation and the “Good News” with family and friends.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Lee Moore of 58 years, his son, James Moore, Jr. “June Bug,” his parents, Fred Moore, Sr. and Blanch Moore, his siblings, Fred Moore, Jr., Lela Mason and Bernice Moore.

James leaves to cherish his memories: 6 Children-Janet Lee Wilson of Vanceboro, NC, Wendy Moore of Aurora, NC, Gwendolyn Ranonia Liddell of Raleigh, NC, Tracy Moore of Washington, NC, Leslie Lenor Moore (Daniel) of Suffolk, VA and Tiawan Nelson Moore of Knightdale, NC; 16 grandchildren, Detowion, Cierra, Ridge, Tanya, Cortez, Courtney, Johnny Jr, Erik, Julian, Jordan, Isis, Daniel “Malik,” Tiawan Jr. “TJ”, Trustin, Victoria and Trenton; 13 great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Nytaeshia, Nyzairria, Ashanti, Zachariah, Kyrie, Christina, Julian Jr., RyanGizelle, Josiah, Kameron, Kobe and Courtney, Jr.; 2 siblings, Louise Crawford (Milton) of Chocowinity, NC and Willow Harvey of Fort Washington, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
