"Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast." – Psalm 139:10
Ernest Lee Ward, son of the late Joanna and Bernell Ward, Sr., was born on August 26, 1956, in Beaufort County, North Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at ECU Health in Greenville, NC.
Ernest attended Chocowinity High School and, shortly after graduation, began working at Singleton Furniture Company as a painter. He was a man of many talents, but his greatest passion was cooking. For Ernest, cooking was more than just preparing meals—it was a way to bring his family together and show his love.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Bernell and Joanna Ward, and his beloved daughter, Tiffany Ward Cobb.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Noel Ward; two children, Tameka Smith of Greenville, NC, and Ernest R. Ward of Blounts Creek, NC; eight grandchildren—Kameron, Aitraia, Latraiya, Zitraiya, Jadiah, Jason, Jayden, and Messiah; three brothers—William Ward (Lucy), Bernell Ward, Jr. (Anita) of Chocowinity, NC, and Darrin Ward (Trashawnda) of Pittsburgh, PA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Ernest's warm heart, joyful spirit, and delicious meals will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at People’s Memorial Chapel.
