Mr. Bobby Earl "Cheetah" Lyons

Mr. Bobby Earl Lyons was born on March 2, 1945, in Nash County, N.C., to the late Emma Lyons and Melvin Daniels. He departed this life on June 4, 2026, at Interfaith Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York.

Bobby was a man who lived a life of simple pleasures and unwavering calm. He found joy in cooking homestyle meals and was a champ at making homemade biscuits. His love for good food was accompanied by a passion for traveling, fishing, and watching ball games. Beyond his active pursuits, he cherished moments of listening to Gospel Quartet music. He loved dressing up in suits and wearing his Kangol hats.

Bobby attended St. Paul Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, Brooklyn, NY, for over forty years, under the leadership of the late Elder Edward McCall. He continued going to St. Paul under the present leadership of Elder Aaron D. Owens, Sr. He accepted the Lord as his personal savior at an early age. While attending St. Paul, he participated in various community activities. Bobby also assisted with distributing food from the food bank. Bobby loved and helped everybody who needed help. While using his own vehicle, Bobby would rise early in the morning, go to Gates Avenue, and wait on the corner of Gates and Tompkins Avenue to see who needed a ride. He continued to help numerous individuals until his health failed. During the last phase of his illness, Bobby repented and rededicated his life to the Lord. He had the pleasure of attending Church for the last time on May 24, 2026, at Love Faith and Victory Deliverance Center, LaGrange, North Carolina, under the leadership of Pastor Deborah Boskey Keys, after pressing his way to his daughter Camara Lyons-McDuffie’s wedding. Bobby was asked the question, “ Are you still calling on Jesus? “He replied, JESUS is my ROCK.”

Bobby Earl Lyons leaves to cherish his memory his children: Vera -Rolete Brown-Morrison (William), Kim Bunkley (Frank), Schewonda Watkins, Hope Lyons, Nancy Theobald (Marc), Bobby Watkins, Jason Lyons, Camara Lyons-McDuffie (Rodney), and Laiquan Lyons. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Siblings: Jennie Williams, Ellen Lyons, Rosa Lyons, and Etta Lyons, Marion Lyons (Ann), Margaret Peoples, Patricia Daniels, Cathina Daniels, Betty Jean Nicholson, Clinton Daniels, Hurbert Daniels, Clarence Daniels, Charlie Bell Jr. (Minnie), Waverly Daniels (Pat), Melbert Daniels Jr. (Brenda), and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church 317 Beauvue Rd, Elm City, NC 27822. Viewing will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM  prior to the service.
