Mrs. Lenora L Legget

Mrs. Lenora Preston Leggett was born on May 3, 1944, to the late Preston and Christobell Lanier in Bath, North Carolina. She received her education through the Hyde County Public School System and graduated from Belhaven High School. She later pursued studies in Cosmetology at Beaufort County Community College in Washington.

Lenora accepted Christ at an early age, building a lifelong foundation of faith and service. On December 25, 1974, she was united in holy matrimony to Pastor Redden Leggett. Their blessed union was graced with two beloved children. In June of 2005, Lenora embraced the honorable role of First Lady of Mount Pilgrim Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, following the pastoral installation of her husband.

Professionally, she was employed by the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center in Greenville, NC where she worked faithfully until her retirement in 2006. In her leisure time, she
enjoyed crossword puzzles, singing, gardening, watching old Western movies, traveling, and spending quality time with her family. One of her favorite pastimes was fishing in Hyde County, where she would always catch those big catfish.

 On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, while in the compassionate care of River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Washington, North Carolina, God in His infinite wisdom called Mrs. Lenora Leggett from labor to reward, from this world of sorrow to eternal rest, at the beautiful age of 81. In addition to her parents, she has now been reunited with her two sisters, Velma Satterthwaite and Annie Carol McWayne.

Mrs. Leggett leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving and devoted husband, Pastor Redden Leggett of the home; two children, Kareem Leggett (Allison) of California and Tisha Leggett of Maryland; a special nephew, Richard Coward; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, church family, and dear friends.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Mount Pilgrim Church of Christ Disciples of Christ Church 33469 US-264, Engelhard, NC 27824, with Apostle Stephen Gaines officiating. Viewing will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 from 2 - 6 PM at People's Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow the Service at St. Delight COC DOC Cemetery .
